Fishing restrictions and Public Space Protection Order (PSPO)
To help protect the amenity, safety and enjoyment of Stowe Pool for all users, a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) applies to fishing activities at the site.
Summer (1 April – 30 September)
Fishing is permitted between 6.30am and 9pm only.
Winter (1 October – 31 March)
Fishing is permitted between 7.30am and 4.30pm only.
Other restrictions
- No night fishing is permitted.
- Please do not park on the grassed area around Stowe Pool as these are not parking spaces.
Anyone fishing at Stowe Pool must leave the area immediately if requested to do so by an authorised person, at any time and on any day.
Failure to comply with the PSPO is an offence and may result in a fixed penalty notice or a fine of up to £1,000 upon conviction.
SSSI restrictions
It is forbidden to introduce new fish into Stowe Pool as it is a SSSI site and doing so can introduce infection into the fish population and lead to fish deaths.
No swimming
Swimming is not permitted in Stowe Pool.
This is because swimming in reservoirs such as Stowe Pool unsupervised is dangerous and can lead to loss of life – the reservoir is deep in places, has unexpected currents and is very cold in places even during hot temperatures.
We also recommend dogs do not swim in Stowe Pool or drink water from it.
Match fishing
Stowe Pool is also available to hire for matches and competition.
