Sessions for Key Stage 2

Bug hunting and pond dipping – 1 or 2 hours
Hunt for bugs by shaking trees, brushing hedges and dipping in the pond. What will you find?

Treemendous insights – 1 or 2 hours
Fun, hands-on activities exploring trees and the woodland. Activities include hug-a-tree; scavenger hunt and tree ID.

Communication – 1 or 2 hours
Fun, hands-on activities exploring communication by humans and other animals. Activities include scent trails, semaphore and bee waggle dance.

Forces – the science of the playground – 1 or 2 hours
Which forces act in the playground? How does a slide work? What makes the ducks float? Fun, hands-on investigations.

Natural Art – 1 or 2 hours
Create pictures and sculptures using natural materials from around the woodland. Includes bark rubbing and tree spirits.

Morse code challenge – 1 or 2 hours
Titanic related puzzle trail. Solve the clues to crack the code.

Geographical skills and enquiry – 1 or 2 hours
Use and create maps and survey park visitors. Why do people come to the park? What do they do here? Which is the most popular piece of play equipment?

NEW! Geography – stream studies – up to 3 hours
This new session includes measuring (speed, temperature, gradient), sampling (pond dipping) and observing the stream.
