Stowe Fields play area unveiled

Stowe Fields play area

A new play area – complete with a zip line, climbing frames, slide and swings – has opened in Lichfield.

Lichfield District Council has launched its brand new play area in Stowe Fields. Children are now having fun playing on the equipment, including a 30m zip line, a basket swing, two slides, climbing frames, wooden stilts, a spider’s net, a fireman’s pole, a seesaw and more.

Councillor Richard Cox, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Parks & Waste, said:

“I am thrilled the play area is ready for children to enjoy over the summer holidays. It’s a brilliant new facility and I am sure even more families will visit Stowe Pool to take advantage of the playground.

“We are looking to install benches in the area as we know once children get to the play area they will want to stay for some time!

“This is just one of a number of improvements we’ve made to the district’s parks over the summer. We have also launched three outdoor gyms recently, and I hope they are encouraging more people to take part in healthy exercise in our parks.”

Now the play area has been installed, Stowe Field’s old junior play equipment, next to the outdoor gym, will be removed after the summer and the area re-landscaped to enhance the view from Stowe Pool towards Lichfield Cathedral.

The council is planning to formally open Stowe Fields play area later in the year.
