Head to Museum Gardens on May Day to enjoy traditional fun and games.

Lichfield District Council is hosting a Victorian May Day event at Museum Gardens in Beacon Park on Monday 7 May 2018, between 11am and 3pm.

The May Day celebrations will include maypole dancing, a Victorian craft ‘cup in a ball’ activity, and a range of traditional games, including a coconut shy, croquet and hoopla. There will also be a Punch & Judy show at 12.30pm, which is expected to draw big crowds.

Councillor Iain Eadie, Cabinet Member for Leisure at Lichfield District Council, said: “This event is a great way to celebrate our heritage and to find out how the Victorians had fun. Visiting Beacon Park on May Day, and getting involved in the traditional activities, will really make that period come alive.”

It is free to come along to the Victorian May Day event, although there will be a small charge for some of the activities.
