Book your place at a kite making workshop running at local Lichfield beauty spot this February half term holiday.

Beacon Park is hosting a series of kite workshops that will teach children to make and decorate their own kites, which they can then fly in the park in a mini kite flying competition.

The workshops are most suitable for accompanied children of five years of age and above. They are running at 10am, 12noon and 1.30pm on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 February 2018.

Ruth Piddington, Community and Education Officer for Lichfield District Council, said: “Flying a kite is a magical experience, and making your personised kite makes it even more special. We hope lots of children will book in for these fun, crafty sessions.”

Places need to be booked in advance. It costs £3.50 for a one and a half hour workshop and kite flying or £3 with a Leisure Activity Passport. To book, call 01543 308869.

Over half term Beacon Park is also running the ‘it’s nearly spring nature trail’, which will guide children around Beacon Park to find the first signs of spring. There are a questions to answer and the completed trails will all go into a prize draw to win a 9-hole round of foot or disc golf.

“Beacon Park is getting ready to wake up after the winter and there are lots of signs already that spring is on its way,” added Ruth.

The trail will be available from Beacon Park’s Ranger Station from 9am to 4pm between Saturday 17 and Sunday 25 February 2018.
