From trampolining and inflatable fun in the pool through to a spooky trail at Beacon Park, Lichfield District Council’s programme of half term activities is out now.

This autumn half term Burntwood Leisure Centre has a varied programme of both group and one-to-one swimming lessons, a rookie lifeguard course, trampolining and gymnastics coaching. The centre is also launching a new Family Clubbercise session, where for £2 you can dance holding glow sticks with all the family. Family Clubbercise is on Thursday 26 October from 4pm to 4.45pm.

Over the school break, Friary Grange Leisure Centre is also offering a range of swimming lessons and a rookie lifeguard course, as well as a sport camp and a Halloween themed pool fun session, complete with music, inflatables and staff firing water pistols at swimmers!

With both leisure centres hosting inflatable fun pool sessions and offers on football and court hire, there is a lot to keep young people active and entertained across the district.

Lichfield and Burntwood 10 to 19 year olds are being encouraged to have a go at Getin2it sessions. From streetcheer dance and parkour to boxing and multi sports, there are a range of varied low cost or free classes to choose from.

Beacon Park will have a lot going on every day of the half term holiday, starting with the Halloween Puzzle Trail available from the Ranger Station. For only £1, families can follow the colourful trail around the historic park to solve clues and claim a small prize.

In a first for Beacon Park, there is also the chance to make a ghost lantern for £2 and then parade it around the park on a walk at dusk this Halloween. The drop-in workshops are running in the Discovery Hub between 11am and 2pm from Tuesday 24 to Sunday 29 October and the parade is at 4.30pm on Tuesday 31 October.

Councillor Iain Eadie, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “With swimming, sports sessions, creative workshops, park activities and more, there’s plenty for children and young people to do this autumn half term.

“To avoid disappointment, we’re encouraging families to look at the full programme and book as soon as possible. Plus you can make early bird savings on a range of the activities at Burntwood Leisure Centre, so it does pay to book early.”
