Learn how to hand paint the roses seen on narrowboats up and down the country’s canals in a workshop at Beacon Park.
Two Canal Art workshops are taking place in Beacon Park’s Discovery Hub on Friday 13 May.
The sessions are for beginners to learn the traditional folk craft of painting narrowboat style roses.
These painted roses have featured on canal boats since the 19th century and are created by using layers of colour and shapes.
Councillor Andy Smith, Cabinet Member for Leisure & Parks at Lichfield District Council, said: “Having a go at one of these workshops is a good way to learn a new skill and to enjoy exploring your creativity.”
The Canal Art workshops are running at Beacon Park on Friday 13 May from 10am to 12 noon or 1pm to 3pm. It costs £8 for a two-hour session. Places need to be booked by calling Ruth Witczak on 01543 308869 or by emailing parks@lichfielddc.gov.uk
