From making a kaleidoscope to having a rapid round of golf, there’s plenty going on at Beacon Park this half term.

Spring half term runs from 15 to 19 February this year, and there is plenty to do at Beacon Park over the break from school.

Young golfers can tee off for a ‘Rapid Round’ between Monday 15 and Friday 19 February from 11am to 3pm. A rapid round includes 9-holes, which is half the usual amount, making it perfect for beginners and younger golfers. It costs £2.60 for children and £4.20 for adults, which can be paid at the Ranger Station, where equipment is also available to hire.

The team at Beacon Park want to remind all golfers to enter the Golf Leaderboard challenge when playing golf at the park. Simply add your contact details to your score card and hand it into the Ranger Station to see if you can top the monthly leaderboard and win a prize.

Over half term Beacon Park is also offering crafty workshops. Running on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 February, children will be taught how to make their own colourful kaleidoscope. The sessions will run at the Discovery Hub at 10am, 11.30am and 1pm and are suitable for children over five years of age. It costs £2 to make a kaleidoscope. Places must be booked in advance by calling 01543 308869.

Councillor Andrew Smith, Cabinet Member for Leisure & Parks for Lichfield District Council, said: “There is always plenty of fun to be had at Beacon Park any day of the week, from the exploring the woodland to playing in the playground, but these half term activities allow children to try out new activities that will help them to fill their week off school.”

Lichfield District Council’s Parks Team is also running a ‘Green Gym’ session over at the recreational area on Sainte Foy Avenue in Lichfield. Taking place on Wednesday 17 February, from 11am to 12noon, the hour-long session will include working out on the outdoor gym and fitness equipment. It costs £1 to take part and is for anyone age 11 or over.
