Vote for Beacon Park to win top award

Green Flag Award 2015

Green Flag Award 2015

Beacon Park is in the running to be named as the nation’s favourite park.

This year Beacon Park was among a record breaking 1,582 parks and green spaces achieved a prestigious, international Green Flag Award. This is the scheme that recognises and rewards the best green spaces.

Because Keep Britain Tidy know how much parks mean to people, the environmental charity is once again running its annual People’s Choice award – giving the public a chance to vote for their favourite park.

Lichfield District Council is now encouraging local people to back Beacon Park.

Councillor Andy Smith, Cabinet Member for Leisure & Parks, said: “Beacon Park is such a popular destination for locals and visitors to Lichfield, and we hope they will take this opportunity to vote for it to win the People’s Choice Award. We were thrilled to achieve our Green Flag Award earlier this summer, but winning an award that is voted for by the people who use and love Beacon Park would make it even more special.”

To vote, simply go to www.greenflagaward.org, select West Midlands on the interactive map, find Beacon Park and click the ‘vote for this site’ button.

The vote opened on 1 September and closes at noon on 30 September. The winner of the People’s Choice award will be announced in October.

Paul Todd, Green Flag Award manager said: “We all have a favourite park, whether it’s our local green space or a special park we’ll travel miles to visit. Following another record breaking year for the Green Flag Award, we are urging everyone to vote for their own favourite park, so we can crown one of these 1,582 special parks as the People’s Choice 2015.”
