Dancing round the maypole

Hundreds of people enjoyed the vintage activities on offer at Beacon Park’s Victorian May Day event.

The sun shone on Beacon Park’s Victorian May Day event, which took place on Monday 4 May 2015. Lots of people enjoyed having a go at dancing round the maypole, croquet, hoopla, and a coconut shy.

There was also a chance to make Victorian paper dolls, and find out more about becoming a Friend of Lichfield Historic Parks. Hundreds of people also gathered round to see a Punch and Judy Show.

Neil Turner, Director of Leisure & Parks for Lichfield District Council, said: “Beacon Park was packed over the Bank Holiday weekend, and the Victorian May Day event was especially busy. It was a chance to celebrate May Day in a traditional way, reviving pastimes for the whole family to enjoy. Well done to everyone involved in making the event such a success and our thanks to all our volunteers on the day.”
