To mark 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War, along with the Friends of Lichfield Historic Parks, Lichfield District Council created a field of poppies at Beacon Park, which is now in bloom.
Following fund raising activities last year, the council’s parks team collected more than £400 to create a field of red. Then in March local volunteers, including our Countryside and Parks Conservation Group, rolled up their sleeves and joined us in the Create a Poppy Field Day.
The poppies have started to come out and look beautiful.
You will find the poppy field towards the northern end of a stretch of grass just beyond the golf course.
